Trump Unveils New Nuclear Weapon in Response to Chinese Expansion in South China Sea
The US military deployed a new bipedal mech capable of firing low-yield nuclear weapon, a system the Pentagon sees as critical to countering the threat posed by China’s increasing expansion in the South China Sea.
Several former high-ranking administration officials, however, have said that the increase in nuclear weapons increase the potential for nuclear conflict.
The Nuclear Armed Railgun Delivery System or NARDS, the first new US nuclear weapon in decades, was first produced in February of last year but some speculated seeing this in the New York Harbor back in 2001 and in Alaska in the 90s.
The dynamic new platform that is capable of battlefield mobilization was called for in the Trump administration's 2018 Nuclear Posture Review, which warned that adversaries might believe they could use a smaller nuclear weapon against the US or its allies without fear of the US launching a nuclear retaliation due to American weapons being disproportionately more destructive.
"Expanding flexible US nuclear options now, to include low-yield options, is important for the preservation of credible deterrence against regional aggression. It will raise the nuclear threshold and help ensure that potential adversaries perceive no possible advantage in limited nuclear escalation, making nuclear employment less likely," the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review said.
The system, code-named Metal Gear Rex, is operated by a single pilot connected to a high tech virtual reality interface and a PS5 controller within the pilot's seat. Along with near-impenetrable compound armor (of which only HEAT weapons could deal sufficient damage), REX is equipped with a pair of 30mm XGAU-8R rotary cannons, anti-tank missiles, an EMP proof Microwave (that makes tasty “bomber dogs”) and a free-electron variant of the Mobile Tactical High-Energy Laser (MTHEL-FE) to protect itself from conventional forces.
Metal Gear Rex’s most fearsome weapon, however, is the magnetic rail gun capable of delivering an untraceable nuclear warhead anywhere in the world, without the propellant trail or launch flare that gives away the launch position of a traditional ballistic missile. The rail gun is capable to firing a projectile with a muzzle velocity of 90 miles per second. It’s original designation was to shoot down enemy ICBMs outside the atmosphere. When fired outside the atmosphere, REX's nuclear rounds would have a radius of effect of 300 yards, and the gun is accurate enough to hit a satellite traveling at 10 miles per second.
"The United States regularly consults with allies on its nuclear weapons systems, and has provided updates on its development of low-yield tridents since the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review," a NATO official told reporters.
In a world seeing an increase in threats, the aging empire was slow to adopt 4G warfare and instead opts to double down on expensive military boondoggles like the F-35, Exosuits and Metal Gears.
In response to North Korean rhetoric, Trump has stated that his button works. And now thanks to Rex, it works faster and quieter.
The real advantage of the Metal Gear System is to be able to penetrate deep into enemy territory without exposing human lives or sensitive technology to an enemy that may capture it.
The Metal Gear System is a complete gamechanger for the modern battlefield and is one more example of how America is able to stay well ahead of its enemies through technological innovation and brute force even while millions go hungry on the streets of Middle America.
