The US military deployed a new bipedal mech-launched low-yield nuclear weapon, a system the Pentagon sees as critical to countering the threat posed by China’s increasing expansion in the South China Sea.

Several former high-ranking administration officials, however, have said that the increase in nuclear weapons increase the potential for nuclear conflict.
